Flow Series: Tableware

$120.00

Dimensions: Varying sizes

Since starting Kaolin Studios, and rediscovering his love of wheel throwing, Arun has been designing and making an original line of Flow Series tableware. The Flow Series tableware is created to sing and dance. These joy filled pieces celebrate the handmade with the way they undulate and swirl.

Approached by Maeda Cafe in Newtown, Arun designed and made cups and mugs to be used in the cafe for coffee and tea. Along with the cups and mugs for use in the cafe, Maeda Cafe is currently the only place you can purchase pieces from the small batch Flow Series tableware.

This collection of pieces from the Flow Series includes various sized bowls, cups, and mugs. They come in a black satin matt, white satin matt, off white creamy matt, pink crackle and ice blue celadon glazes on white stoneware or porcelain clay. They have been high fired to cone 9/10 temperatures.

  2. Handmade and fired in Lewisham, NSW

  3. Highly durable white stoneware/ porcelain construction

  4. Dishwasher and microwave safe

  5. Food safe

Flow series

The Flow Series is a series of functional objects that Arun Sharma feels encapsulates an object being made out of clay, with human hands, on the potter’s wheel. He originally started producing objects in his Flow series while living in Canada and Japan in the early 2000s and continues to revive the series in small batches today.

Each piece in the Flow Series is hand thrown in “loose” Japanese style. This means that undulations in the clay are formed by Arun’s hand on the wheel. The intuitive nature of this process means that each item produced in the series is thoroughly unique, while also cohesive as a matching set.
